What is a PHEV, and how does it work?
PHEV stands for a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Using two different sources of power- petrol or diesel, and an electric motor which uses stored energy from a battery, they’re cheaper to run and better for the environment.
Electric your way
The Ford Escape can travel up to 56km1 producing zero emissions, perfect for day-to-day trips. On longer journeys the technology seamlessly switches from electricity to petrol when the battery runs low, so you’ll never miss a beat.
Charge on the go
When you’re driving, a combination of regenerative braking and power drawn from the engine helps replenish the battery. And if you need to recharge on-the-go, you can easily use an ever-growing network of public charging stations too.
Monitor your battery (FordPass)
FordPass2 allows you to view the Escape’s charge and fuel levels in the app and calculate how many kms you can travel at that level. FordPass can send notifications when the charge level of your battery and fuel level are running low.

180-degree split view camera

Reverse Cross Traffic Alert
Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert uses sensors to monitor the traffic in your blind spot and warn you before reversing out of a parking spot or switching lanes.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring
The Escape helps you avoid being caught with a flat tyre. The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System alerts you when the pressure is low, so you can manually check the pressure and reinflate them to the accurate level.
Lane Keeping Aid
If you accidentally drift over the lane, the Escape will apply gentle steering torque and a warning vibration to guide you back if needed.
Electronic Stability Control
As roads get busier, the need to make sudden manoeuvres to avoid an accident are increasing. ESC is designed to help prevent skidding or sliding sideways when taking evasive action or in bad conditions.
